Taking the Train
Singapore features 6 Mass Rapid Transit or MRT lines across the island with a total of more than 140 stations in several commercial, residential and educational districts. The trains are fully automated and driverless, operating daily from 5:30 am to midnight. Singapore’s MRT lines are also well-connected to several of the city’s major hotels and apartments such as Ascott Raffles Place, making it an ideal transport option for tourists and visitors. Travelling by Bus
There are over 350 buses that operate across several routes daily which are well-connected to various housing estates, shopping malls, schools, offices and other places of interest. Buses often arrive at intervals of 10-15 minutes and are sometimes more convenient than trains in the mornings. It is best to use a contactless credit card or an EZ-link card to pay your fare at the entrance; paying in coins is still accepted but you’ll need to pay the driver directly. You can also keep track of your route and destination via an app like SG Buses or Singabus.
Hiring a Taxi
If you prefer to avoid the public system altogether you can hire a private taxi although at a higher cost. Taxi fares are determined by the taxi companies so there may be slight variations based on the type of taxi and your destination. There are also several ways of settling your fare including cash, credit card, or PayNow. You can use local ride apps like Grab, Gojek or Tada to make a booking.
